BNS Treasury

Dear Etsy Sellers,

We've been featured in a new buy and stay treasury - if you purchase something from one of the stores in this treasury an item from your store will replace it in the next round.

We'd love you to stop by (and perhaps shop)

Sunday Discovery Markets

Jan and I are excited to be trialling another market this weekend: The Rocklea Sunday Discovery Markets in Brisbane.

Apparently these markets are full of homemade and second hand products, food, live music and plants. These markets are fully undercover which is great since it's been raining in Brisbane the last few days. We're really enjoying our market trials so far and we're sure it won't be long until we find somewhere that's just right for us.

We'd love for our Brisbane friends to come and say hello - the market will only be open between 6am and 12pm though so make sure you're there early!

Come say hello to our new little friend Louie the Zombie - kits will be on special for $7 each (lots of colours to choose from).

Yesterday at Carrara Markets

Liv and I were at the office at Carrara Markets in the line up at 4.30am. Others had been there since 3.30 to get a numbered ticket in the hopes of getting the best site. The office opened at 5.00 and by just after 6.00 we began setting up our stall. The rules stipulate you must be ready by 7.00am and are not to leave before 4.00pm.Carrara has about 500 undercover market stalls (very well organized and great facilities). The other stall holders were really friendly and helpful which we newbies appreciated. A big thanks to all!

Liv's beanies were popular and her Beverage Beanies attracted heaps of attention (such a cool idea). Liv was taking commissions from early in the day. (remember, if you want something special we are happy to oblige). I was thrilled so many people loved my aprons. It was great seeing people pose in the mirror. My genuine retro fabric and buttoned cushions also sold well.

Liv's busy working on commissions.

However, although we rated Carrara Markets a success, we've decided that an arty, original market might be more our style as very few of the stalls had original/ handmade things and we so love meeting and sharing with other artisans.
Loved this style beanie so much she bought all Liv's stock!!!
Liv's new Beverage Beanies got lots of attention!

Make your own Easter Egg Cosy

With Easter only a few days away I decided to make an Easter Egg Cosy. My thanks to Sarah Rossiter on twitter who tweeted about diy egg decorating made simple. This gave me the idea of sharing my cosy as it's so easy, looks cute and really keeps my boiled egg warm on these cooler mornings.
  • Make a pattern with base of 9-10cm and a height of 8cm similar in shape to my photo above.
  • Use your pattern and cut two pieces of felt.
  • Cut a rough flower shape out of a scrap of material and put a button in the center.
  • Sew the flower and button on to the felt.
  • Your cosy can then be blanket stitched around the outside using double thread (one would do but two looks better). Simple tacking stitch works just as well.
You can use your imagination and anything you have to hand to decorate your cosy. Ric rac, buttons or bows look great. You might like to cut long ears and turn your cosy into a cute bunny or cut pictures from cloth (I love pirates and birds) and sew them on.

I think an egg cosy would make a simple chocky egg a real treat.

If you have a go please email pictures to us at janessundaybest@gmail.com
We'd love to see your creations.

We'll be at Carrara Markets this Saturday

We scored a stall at Carrara Markets this Saturday. So excited! As we're new to this and wanted to try out the market to see if it works for us. Casual stall holders need to ring on the Tuesday before the weekend from 9.00am with no guarantees of getting in. We're in!!! We opted for the main section of the market and were happy to pay $45 for the stall which includes a large table, an awning and includes insurance cover. Here's information for stall holders.
Be taking heaps of photos. Look for our posts next week when we'll tell you how we went and what we think.

Just added a new treasury on our Etsy site.

With so many colours captivating my imagination I decided to make a treasury of rainbow colours. Too many to decide on just one. I called it I can see a rainbow.

Liv just made a new treasury on our Etsy site.

Hi. Thought I'd let you know Liv made a new treasury on our Etsy website. It's her selection of cosy winter warmers.
Liv's first and very beautiful treasury is rose coloured glasses.

I made a treasury recently too. Mine is in a doggy world.

Etsy allows you to make "treasury" collections of items you love for sale in their stores. Liv and I have had fun making these.

Red Tree

Red Tree grabs my interest because those are my colours and I favour simply statements. Also suits our autumn season.

Reds and Buttons

I love the random arrangement of buttons. This retro inspired Beverage Beanie looks and is cool.

Purple Flower

Purple roses are a rare treasure.

Pink Flower

The white band near the top reminds me of ric rac. This is a truely feminine Beverage Beanie.

Blue and Green revisited.

Blue and green revisited.

Blue and Green

Simply blue and green. How effective is this! Simply elegant.

Birds

"Birds" is one of my favourite Bevrage
Beanies. You can buy it now from our Etsy store.

Three Roses

Three Roses is another in Liv's Beverage Beanie series. I love the colour change which fits so well with the three hand made roses. You'll find it here on our Etsy store.

Craft groups - fun way to share and learn

I came across a craft group, Brown Owls, which has several chapters across Australia.
Brown Owls is a crafty club, where you can meet other great people and work on crafty projects, together or independently. There is a little more information about this group here.

Liv and I would love to hear about other craft groups and craft forums. We'll create a link list to the right of this blog.

Doggy Treat on Etsy

I was so excited about finishing my first recycled Dog Rug and Dog Zombie Softie. Liv gave me the my inspiration when she made Zombie cupcakes for my recent 60th birthday. I put them on Jane's Sunday Best Etsy Store today.

New items on Etsy

Liv has been busy with her new range of Beverage Beanies. She's added several to out Etsy Shop. Love you to take a look and let us know what you think.
